When we’re young and as we get older we are taught by our family and the schools that when we grow up, we are to go to college amass a world of debt, and then get a real job in the real world.
According to my father, the definition of a real job is a “factory” job. This is where you spend 40-60 hours a week half killing yourself for a paycheck to barely make ends meet.
Or if you’re desperate enough you find a job in retail or restaurant work. In this case, you are making less money than the factory job.
For some, this is okay with them. They don’t have any ambition to do more with their life. Most others believe they have no other choice.
Then you have some who live on welfare to help raise their families because they can’t get a job, the job they have doesn’t pay enough, they don’t want to work, or they can’t even afford childcare while they work for minimum wage.
Those who do go to college will usually spend most of their lives paying back their student loans.
This is how most of us were raised to believe life is and should be. This is how it has been for a long time now.
We have people complaining about the unemployment rate. Every now and then the politicians make noises about fixing the problem, but in the end, nothing changes much.
But we can still fix this. There are many changes today that we didn’t have in the past. We now have computers and the internet with so much information available for free or next to free.
Starting your own business and becoming an entrepreneur is much easier than it used to be. And depending on what type of business you want to start you don’t need thousands of dollars and a bank loan to do it.
You can either start an online business or an offline business. There are many offline businesses that can be started right out of your home. As for online businesses, you can do them from home or anywhere you can get an internet connection.
Some advantages of starting a home-based business can include:
• Starting with little to no money down.
• You can start part-time until you start making more money.
• You can grow it to be as large or as small as you want it.
• You will be doing something you like to do and want to do, not what you have to do or hate doing.
• You can get the whole family involved. Maybe even teach your teens how to build their own business. This teaches them how to be responsible, self-sufficient, and productive.
But the question is…
How can this affect the unemployment rate? Well, there can be several benefits to becoming an entrepreneur.
• It can get you off unemployment and/or welfare.
• You have the potential to make more money and be able to raise your family.
• You have the potential to grow your business large enough to hire employees. This creates more jobs for people.
• By teaching your teens to start their own businesses and they do it, you are not only teaching them work values but your helping to keep them off unemployment and welfare. And they also will be creating more jobs for people.
• You're allowing someone else to take the job you will no longer need because you are now your own boss.
• This can then lower the need for unemployment, and welfare while having more jobs available for the growing population.
• By being an entrepreneur and actually having more money, not only will your bills get paid but you’ll even have more money to spend on other things. This is a great way to stimulate the economy in a more positive way.
As you can see there is a need for more entrepreneurs in this world. There are so many positive ways and reasons entrepreneurship helps the unemployment rate.
In my book “Be an Entrepreneur” (W.M. Housouer), I talk about different types of businesses that you could start from home. It talks about businesses you can start that require a computer and an internet connection. And then it talks about businesses you can start that doesn’t.
I also talk about what scams to stay away from, the pros and cons, how to create your home office, and a lot more. So if you want to know more it’s on Amazon.
